Today is ‘National Law Day’. It is celebrated every year on 26 November in India. Today, on this special occasion, I am going to give you such information about the laws of India which can be strange, interesting and can also be your right.
Weird Laws of India 1 – 10
1. According to The Aircraft Act 1934 of Indian Law, flying balloons and kites without police permission is illegal.
2. According to the Indian Sarais Act 1867, you can ask to use free water and bathroom in any hotel, even if the hotel is 7 star.
3. In Kerala, there is a fine of Rs 10,000 for having a third child.
4. Under The Land Acquisition Act, 1894, the government can buy your land at any time. Even if you don’t want to.
5. Police cannot arrest a woman after the sun sets and before the sun rises in the morning. In a very serious case, if arrest has to be made then written permission will have to be taken from the magistrate.
6. If your vehicle is challaned for something once a day, it will not be challaned again throughout the day. e.g: If you have been issued a challan for not wearing a helmet once a day, then you can roam without wearing a helmet till night.
7. In 2011, the Ministry of Women and Child Development made a law that a single man cannot adopt a girl.
8. According to the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956, if a married Hindu couple already has a boy, then that boy cannot be adopted, the same applies to the girl too.
9. According to section 309 of the Indian Penal Code, committing suicide is legal but if you survive, you can be jailed for up to 1 year.
10. To become a Motor Vehicle Inspector in Andhra Pradesh, one must have good teeth.
Weird laws of India 11 – 20
11. If you do obscene acts in a park or public place, you can be jailed for 3 months.
12. If the sexual relationship between husband and wife is not good then it can be presented in the court as evidence for divorce.
13. Under the Prevention of Seditious Meetings Act, 1911, not more than 10 people can dance together on a dance floor.
14. To be recruited as a pilot in the Indian Air Force, your legs must be 90 cm long.
15. If a boy and a girl get married after rape, then the rape case against the boy is dropped.
16. According to Chapter V of Section 49 of the Dentist Act, 1948, pulling teeth and cleaning ears on the roadside is illegal.
17. According to Indian law, sex in brothels is legal in India but becoming a broker for this work is illegal.
18. Under the Factories Act, 1948, it is against the law for women to work in factories at night.
19. According to Section 377 of IPC, oral sex is a crime.
20. Under Section 377 of the Act, anyone found guilty of unnatural sex with any animal can be sentenced to life imprisonment.
